The Thinking Home Business blog, launched by Des Walsh in 2004, shares ideas, experience and tips for men and women professionals already working from home and those who are interested in the possibility of doing so
Hi
Thanks for visiting!
I set up my first home based business just over twenty years ago. I love this life and the freedom and opportunities it gives. At the same I know from first hand experience that it can be challenging, frustrating, often lonely and of course lacking some of the apparent security of career and income that is offered in the corporate and government employment. Of course, I don’t even have to say “GFC” for anyone reading this to know that the security of career and income is more “apparent” than real or enduring.
My business has always been about communication and I love helping businesses communicate better about their products and services.
My professional focus these days is on helping businesses navigate the social web, strategically and effectively. I say I want my customers to become savvy players on the social web, not roadkill. My Des Walsh dot Com blog has a stronger focus on social media than does this site.
I’m also an experienced mentor coach for business owners and I love working with true entrepreneurs who like to move fast rather than just tagging along with the general business crowd. If you are interested in that, I offer a complimentary, no-obligation conversation to see whether there might be a fit between your business needs and what I do.
The social technologies we have available today are a great gift for anyone who works from home or is thinking about doing so. But getting to use those technologies effectively for your home based business can be a challenge. On this blog I share what I’ve learned and I’m open about the things I thought would work but haven’t worked for me. Hopefully that will save some people some learning time!
You can find out more about me from my LinkedIn profile.
And you can find my various “locations” on the social web on my Xeesm page.
