This Thinking Home Business blog was started by Des Walsh in 2004 with the aim of sharing some ideas and experience with other professionals working from home. As things have turned out, the blog has reflected and continues to reflect an increasing involvement with and enthusiasm for blogging, online social networking and Web 2.0 developments in the business context.
And now Suzie Cheel has signed on to blog here, as well as on her increasingly popular Abundance Highway blog.
Des and Suzie are based on Australia’s sunny Gold Coast, on the eastern side of the continent.

I set up my first business from home, a communications consultancy, twenty years ago. I love the life and the freedom it gives me, even with all the challenges that come of not having someone else taking care of your paycheck (and these days we know, better than we did 20 years ago, how precarious that can be).
I am also a writer, public speaker and group facilitator.
Technology allows me to coach business owners by phone and online, across Australia and internationally, from my home five minutes from the beach!

I have been an early childhood teacher and trainer of teachers in that field.
I am an award-winning artist and I established and ran my own textile clothing and design business for fourteen years. You can find out more at my site, that seriously needs updating, here.
A long term student of personal development, I have a keen interest in online social networking. I have a Graduate Diploma in Social Communication and a Masters in Applied Science (Social Ecology) focused on the creation of communities on the Internet. Born and raised in Australia’s national capital, Canberra, I have lived and worked also in the United Kingdom and Nigeria. I am currently based on Australia’s Gold Coast - and online.
