@ Sahail

Great questions! I've just had a long session with Bill via Skype and I can assure you the points you raise are front and center. You are absolutely right about the terrible stress some people go through and the impact on their sense of self-worth and their view of their own future potential.

So much money is spent by corporations on company wide change management, but sometimes that just makes people a bit more cunning, with change at the periphery of behavior, not real, profound change in thinking, attitude and motivation.

We are not psychologists, but we are coaches and we are coaches who have played the game, more than once, of career change, and creating our own next steps.

So yes to helping with change. Yes to communication skills and yes to selling oneself to a recruiter/hirer (noting that before we can sell our services effectively to someone else we'd better make sure we have done a superlative job of building our own sense of justified self-esteem, or if you will, selling ourselves to ourselves).

I hope that answers your questions for the moment.

Thanks again.

Thinking about that Greg,

What details can you share about how you will help Boomers meet these challenges?

Change can be the most painful thing in a professional's life. One can feel worthless, behind, and as if time has been wasted.

It can lead to 'Gardening leave' being an attractive option.

Guessing change management will be a huge part of what the project will offer? As well as communication skills? And selling oneself to a recruiter?

@ Bill
I'm wondering if we should be daring and announce our launch date?

@Sahail
Good points. Only thing is, those who have worked for a corporation for years have to learn some new skills and (as they say with athletes in championship events) learn to dig deep, emotionally, when there are pressures they have not experienced, or not so directly, before.

@ Amalaki Juice
True. On the internet front there is a challenge: the next time I hear a Boomer boasting about being a Luddite I know I will walk away. But they are not the Boomers who are actually looking for new challenges.

Awesome post!

The boomers have been and will continue to be the leading edge of any trend for the years to come. From Gerber as babies, to Ford as they were teens, to New Home starts, to now, the health and wellness revolution and the increasingly important role of the internet.

Have a great one!

Great post.

Boomers aren't going to be left behind, experience is everything. Different generations have a more holistic view of things anyway, and are calmer and more rational when it comes to business.

Makes them perfect businesspeople, and even more so with the ever increasingly wired up world.

Thanks for a graet piece.
