One of the main reasons a lot of us use images is to help with search rankings. I've seen it argued persuasively that Google gives preference to fresh images over re-used ones. Also, and whether this is a good thing or not, bloggers I know love getting stuff without having to pay (and there is a lot around), although that might not be exactly music to the ears of web designers or graphic designers.
