Shai
It was terrific to see you and Darren at BlogWorld. On the Australian scene, I'm hoping Peter Black at QUT will put on another Australian Blogging Conference next year as he did last year in Brisbane.

Hi, Des. It was such a thrill to meet you finally. Always strange having to cross international borders to meet a fellow Aussie-based blogger. :-) And yes, it'll be interesting to see more international folks in such gatherings. Would definitely love to see one happen in Australia, among other places too.

Thanks for the great suggestion, Darren. No idea how to do it but now is a good time to be thinking laterally. One thing that might be interesting is to see if there are opportunities for scholarships for younger people from various countries: maybe some foundation would look at that.

Agreed - would love to see Blog World more representative of the international blogging community.

One crazy thought that I had on the way home was wondering if there is some way we could see international attendees subsidized in some way?

I've been to a few conferences that do their 'pricing' this way:

locals pay most, those coming from nationally get a discount (to offset their air fares), those coming from international regions get in free (or largely discounted) to offset their extra costs.

I wonder if there's some way that they could arrange this - either by the organizers helping out or getting some sponsorship for those coming in from outside the USA.

Just a crazy thought.
