Yes, Problems with that is you could face a tidal wave of spam. But you will get more genuine commenters as a result, overall I strongly recommend it.

really like the idea of comment luv since it is a way to return the web back to being a collaboratives place. I think when you first put up your site you are excited and feel like your content will take over the world then you quickly realize that the only way to keep up there in search rankings is by building relationships with other webmasters.

I don’t know if it helps, but I would tend to imagine it would help a bit. I’ve been meaning to add it to some of my blogs and I guess soon I’ll find out if it helps increase comments or not.

Yes, I think it does increase comment frequency, particulary among semi-web-savvy readers and above. I have put it to good use and found it particularly useful in certian blog niches, particularly webmaster/SEO related niches. I have also found a downside (outweighed by the benefits) in that, depending on the niche and popularity of your blog, it can encourage more trash comments from those simply seeking a link back to their blog so I couple it with comment moderation in those instances.
