I'm totally in agreement here - the people who I connect with are very often in this position of being on their own in business and it can be truly soul-destroying for some. There are loads of ways to get out there and do stuff, although in the main they tend to be focused on networking and business contacts first rather than social fun. I'll definitely be looking into this, thanks for the post.

Kind regards,

Well as CTO of WhyGoSolo and a home-based entrepreneur, it can apply to networking too. On my Listings, I've been adding local networking events to have a partner/wingman involved. After all, it's easier to break the ice when you have one person as an ally or someone to introduce. ;)

Thank you Des, nice write up! When I started my life coaching practice about two years ago and started working from home I realized it didn't long at all for me to start feeling isolated...through not having the company of people in the office. I also realized that my work schedule offered me some extra flexibility, therefore, finding other people who had the same flexibility in the middle of the day so we could take two hours and do something would be pretty priceless.

I'd encourage those working at home to start a group on WhyGoSolo so you can find others to just break things up now and again and enjoy some time meeting new people. Who knows what that could turn into, perhaps a new business lead.
