Less Than Four Weeks to ad:tech Sydney

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Just realised it’s less than four weeks to go till ad:tech, “the no.1 event for interactive marketing” hits Sydney, Feb 7-8 and promises to “provide a complete look at how the intersection of marketing and technology will change the way your customers interact with your brand”.

There are three streams:

  • Media & Strategy
  • Next Generation
  • Performance Marketing

In the Next Generation stream, I’m to be a member of the Blogs as a Marketing Tool panel. The session will be chaired by the much published, very savvy Ross Dawson, Chairman, Future Exploration Network and mastermind of a fascinating conference in July last year with a simultaneous audio-visual hookup between Sydney and San Francisco. The other panel member is my friend and colleague Fred Schebesta, livewire young award-winning online marketing expert and Director of Freestyle Media.

Our panel is scheduled for the first day, Feb 7, in the afternoon. We have the justafterlunch slot, so I’m open to suggestions for jokes to help get attention.

There is a  great lineup of speakers for the conference and there is also an exhibition (free, registration info here) over the two days. I am of course planning to post about the event, maybe in the evenings but possibly during the sessions. All I have to do is figure out how my new-fangled notebook will interact with the wireless connectivity I assume the Sydney Hilton provides. Actually, in Sydney there is still not – I am told – ubiquitous wireless in the central business district, so I will be checking in advance.

I’m also on a promise of a beer with Rick E. Bruner,  Research Director at DoubleClick and owner of Business Blog Consulting blog where I post from time to time. Rick is one of the State of The Industry panel members, session on the second day. Another person I’ve not met other than virtually and hope to see there is pro-blogger and co-owner of b5media, Darren Rowse.

I’m tickled pink to be part of this conference. From what I’ve seen so far, ad:tech is an impressive operation and its current program includes not only Sydney, but in the US New York, Miami, Chicago and San Francisco, in Asia Beijing and Singapore, and in Europe Hamburg, London and Paris.

For the benefit of anyone visiting Sydney from afar for the events, the Hilton is midtown, and if your expense account is not unlimited there are plenty of places to get a good coffee or sustaining meal quite close, eg. various establishments in the Queen Victoria Building on George St between Market and Park.
